After becoming disabled learning to fight for access with her employer, Jean Ryan has been a disability rights activist for 15 years in the areas of transportation and physical access. She is VP for Public Affairs of Disabled In Action (DIA) and is an active member of Taxis for ALL Campaign and the Access-A-Ride Paratransit Advisory Committee.

Ms. Prentiss is active in a number of political, civic, transportation, aging, disability, emergency preparedness and health care advocacy organizations. She is the President of the 504 Democratic Club, Vice President for Legislative Affairs of Disabled In Action of Metropolitan New York (DIA), and Chair of the Taxis For ALL Campaign (TFAC). She is a Board Member of the Disability Network of New York City (DNNYC), the Washington Heights Inwood Council on Aging (MHICOA) and a NYC Public Advocate appointee to the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the Metropolitan Transit Authority’s (MTA) Transit Riders’ Council (TRC). She established and maintains the 504 and DNNYC listserv weekly events list of disability related events in New York City.
