UNPACKING OPPRESSION: Sharing our Voices
To Build, To Learn, To Challenge
During this two-day workshop, students will participate in rich, facilitated dialogue about the intersectionality of identities, privilege, power and oppression. We will share our voices and experiences in order to build community and a space to hold and be held accountable; to learn about ourselves and others, in addition to systems of oppression and how they play out within our school community; and ultimately, to challenge ourselves to think more about these lessons and to take them out of the room and into our daily lives as students and social workers.
The curriculum of UNPACKING OPPRESSION has been developed by a team of CSSW students in partnership with the Professional Development and Self-Awareness group (PDSA). The workshop will be facilitated by members of our faculty: Fang-pei Chen, Kalima DeSuze, Leona Hess, Elijah Nealy, Amelia Ortega, and Catherine Shugrue Dos Santos. Food will be provided.
Date: Friday, February 21 6pm-9pm & Saturday, February 22nd 10-6pm
